Our Project Is Among the Top 50 Ideas of 2025 in the Dominican Republic
At the event, I had the chance to speak with the Vice Minister of Monitoring and Government Coordination, meet the representant of Qik, connect with Aparna Ramanan from Bloomberg Philanthropies, and even receive insights from the Governor of Samaná, Teodora Mullix Geraldino.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend República de Ideas, a new initiative launched by the Dominican government. The goal of the program is simple but powerful: citizens can submit innovative ideas, and if a committee considers them fresh and impactful, they select the top 50 proposals from across the country.
I’m proud to say that I’m part of one of the teams that made it into those top 50 ideas, and we qualified to participate in the Ideas Camp. Being recognized at a national level for something we’ve built with so much passion was already exciting, but the experience ended up being so much more meaningful than I expected.
At the event, I had the chance to meet the Vice Minister of Monitoring and Government Coordination Luis Gregorio Madera Sued. We exchanged thoughts and ideas not only about our project but also about other personal initiatives. It was inspiring to have that kind of conversation with someone directly involved in shaping public innovation.
Our team also met a representant of Qik, Ernesto Espinosa the Dominican neobank that’s transforming digital banking in the country. The moment he realized that our project wasn’t just an idea, but a fully developed and functional app, his expression said everything. That genuine surprise reminded us of the value of building, not just dreaming.
During the event, we also interacted with Aparna Ramanan from Bloomberg Philanthropies, who works in Government Innovation. Interestingly, ours was the only table she approached. I like to believe it was because our solution is already developed and operational.
We also received valuable insights from the Governor of Samaná, Teodora Mullix Geraldino, who contributed with thoughtful suggestions that added even more perspective to our vision.
Overall, this has been a unique and unforgettable experience. Reaching this level was possible thanks to the strengths of a multidisciplinary team, and it reminded me that you never really know how far you can go simply by being disciplined and consistent.
The next phase of the program takes place on February 12th, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead.
